One new mom's journey through diaper changes, hormones, and everything in between.
Jamaica
Last week the hubby, the little guy, and I headed off to Jamaica to spend eight days on the beach with our parents, grandparents, and close relatives. The first morning the little guy was up to meet the sunrise. I was so excited to see how he would react to the ocean that we headed to the beach, camera in tow, and captured his first dip (toes only).
No more excuses
While last year was one of the best years of my life, marked by the birth of my little guy, it was also a year of major change. To my body that is! And while I started every month with a workout goal, I ended every month having badly failed said attempted goal. Well, this year I have decided to make this goal about me and my entire family because when I am at my best, so is the family. Not only have I incorporated working out (which has been successful thus far), I have also taken small steps to slowly transition my tribe (of 3, including me) to an all organic diet. My mission is to celebrate each day, commit to being healthy, and enjoy the small victories. No more resolutions; committing to improvements.
Happy New Year. Happy Birthday.
Cheers to a tremendous 2012. January 1 is always my favorite day of the year because it is also my birthday; This was by far the best birthday message I received today! Enjoy
Foodie Redefined
Pureed edamame is not his food of choice. Playing with it on the other hand is clearly his game of choice.
How would you treat that loved one who recently annoyed or hurt you if you were told that come tomorrow they would take their last breath? Why not treat them like that every day.
Stinky Feet
You may not believe me but my little guy has the cheesiest toes ever smelled on a baby… oh how I love them.
Sunday Breakfast Tradition
I love trying new breakfast recipes because Sunday breakfast is a nice tradition in our home. I decided to make a Frittata and found this yummy Rachel Ray recipe online. Instead of the Goat and Fontina cheeses, I used a blend of Cheddar, Monterey, and Asadero cheeses and also carmelized the onions. My hubby loved it so much he insists I make this dish the next time we are invited to one of our friend’s home for brunch!
Christmas reflections…
this time last year, I was awaiting the most precious gift of them all…
Christmas has always been a big deal in my family. My own Dad (the tough patriarch) would often count how many presents he had under the tree and to this day sulks if he has less than everyone else. Christmas is also my favorite time of the year because of the family togetherness, wonderful food, and fun activities throughout the day. This year, I am trying to determine what traditions I would like to start in my own home so that when my little guy grows up, he smiles when telling those “remember when” stories…
